DESCRIPTION: APW - Hamilton, Grade 992 Special with "Adjusted For Railroad Service 21 Jewels 8 Adjustments" signed dial, 21J, 16S, white gold-filled OF original Keystone J. Boss case with very attractive engraving detail to rear, white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, gold jewel settings, gold center wheel, gilt mvt screws and regulator assembly, two-tone gilt and nickel checkerboard pattern damascene, s#2428728. A superb example of this scarce and desirable railroad marked watch, like nearly all known examples this movement has a secondary number (29859 in this instance) lightly scratched on its plate surface adjacent to the factory serial number. The "992 Special" movement marking and "8 Adjustments" dial marking of this example are characteristic of the latest version of these watches and these markings are found consistently among examples with serial numbers in the 2.4 million and 2.5 million range and occasionally among examples with serial numbers in the 2.3 million range. From the Estate of Michael "Skip" Marrone.
